September was an unforgettable month for Thimbrel Worldwide. From bringing neighbors together for our first annual Edgecombe Back to School Block Party to hosting the inaugural Kids Excellence Awards alongside Swish Athletics, we made lasting memories while strengthening our commitment to the community. Here’s a look back at what we accomplished this month:
🎉 Edgecombe Back to School Block Party
On September 6, 2025, we proudly hosted the first annual Edgecombe Back to School Block Party — and it was an incredible success! With over 200 attendees, the day was filled with joy, energy, and community spirit.
The event featured:
🎲 Fun games for kids and families
🍧 Icees, ice cream, and popcorn
🎒 A book bag giveaway to prepare students for the school year
📚 Ms. Arlene’s Library, where free books were available to read and take home
Of course, no block party is complete without great food! Over 200 hot dogs, 100 hamburgers, and 100 pounds of chicken were grilled to perfection by Lowe Cooks. Music for the day was curated by the one and only DJ Harlem Girl, creating the perfect vibe.
This event was just the beginning — we look forward to making the Edgecombe Block Party a yearly tradition!
🏅 The First Kids Excellence Awards
On September 26, 2025, Thimbrel Worldwide and Swish Athletics co-hosted the inaugural Kids Excellence Awards in Staten Island at the YMCA Gerard Carter Center.
The event was an overwhelming success, with 20 students honored for their academic, athletic, and community achievements. We were proud to shine a spotlight on these bright young leaders who embody the values of excellence and dedication.
🌟 The Thimbrel Worldwide Legacy Award
At the Kids Excellence Awards, we also unveiled a new tradition: the Thimbrel Worldwide Legacy Award.
This honor was created to recognize individuals of stature, commitment, and integrity — people who influence not only children but entire communities through leadership and service. Only one Legacy Award will be presented each year, making it a truly special distinction.
This year, the first-ever Legacy Award was presented to Donnell Canmu, whose contributions and dedication have made a profound impact on his community.
